5 Reasons To Schedule an Inspection of your Plano Commercial Roof

5 Reasons to Get Inspected after a Hail and High Wind Storm

1. Your agent is not your adjuster. Do not be under the illusion that your relationship with your agent is going to protect you. It doesn’t matter if you go golfing with your agent every weekend or if your agent is your brother-in-law or your childhood friend; your agent has nothing to do with your insurance claim.  It is the insurance adjuster that is in charge of your claim.

2.  Adjusters are overloaded with adjustments.  When a severe hail or windstorm hits your home, it also hits your neighborhood and the surrounding area. Insurance companies are overwhelmed with hundreds if not thousands of claims all at once and adjusters are extremely busy. The fact is most hail and some wind damage is subtle and easily missed. It is not in your best interest to rely on these overworked insurance adjusters alone to determine the level of damage to your property.

3.  You need your own representative.  Would you go to court without an attorney? Unless you are an expert in both roofing and insurance claims, why would you try to handle this on your own? There are thousands of trained professional roofers that have been educated in the same way insurance adjusters have been trained that are willing to help you. Often, their services are at not charge so long as you agree to use them as your roofing contractor after the claim declares a full replacement is warranted. Often, the most important part of their job is to slow down these adjusters and point out the subtle damage that takes time to find.

4.  You have to tie this damage to that storm. Do you ever watch CSI? I caught an episode or two years ago and it hit me that insurance adjusters and insurance restoration contractors are forensic detectives just like the show, only our victim is your property. With roofing claims, it is not good enough that you prove the level of damage; you must also prove that this damage came from a recent storm. Insurance companies do not owe for damage that is a year old or older and everyday that goes by after a storm makes it more difficult to prove that the damage sustained was due to a recent damage. If you procrastinate, the damage may be washed away by rain, wind and exposure to ultraviolet rays making it impossible to know whether the damage came from the recent storm or from a storm years ago.

5.  The average roof costs over $10k. Would you pay double for a new Apple computer? How about paying double for a brand new big screen tv? Of course not, that would cost you close to an extra $1000.00, right?  Why would anyone take a risk of losing $10,000.00 on an insurance claim?
