An effort designed to make commercial buildings more energy-efficient by 20% over the next decade was recently introduced.  The presidential administration hopes to encourage businesses to  invest in the upgrade of commercial buildings including offices, stores, business centers, schools, and municipal facilities, as well as universities, hospitals and more.

The initiative specifically aims to:

• Achieve a 20% improvement in energy efficiency by 2020
• Reduce companies’ and business owners’ energy bills by about $40 billion per year
• Save energy by reforming outdated incentives and challenging the private sector to act
