Roof collapses at former auto dealer in SE Minn.

At least half of the building’s roof caved in Thursday, and roof panels and walls sagged under the weight of what the National Weather Service says is more than a foot of heavy, wet snow.

West Concord, Minn.  —  Officials are assessing the damage after the roof collapsed on a former auto dealership in southeastern Minnesota.

It happened in downtown West Concord, just off Highway 56 in Dodge County. At least half of the building’s roof caved in Thursday, and roof panels and walls sagged under the weight of what the National Weather Service says is more than a foot of heavy, wet snow.

Law enforcement officials tell KARE-TV  the collapse was almost certainly caused by the unseasonable spring storm.

The building is a former Jeep dealership. It’s now used to store boats, cars, and other recreational vehicles. Authorities say it was unoccupied at the time and nobody was injured.

There was no immediate estimate on the damage to the structure or the vehicles inside.
